EA calls for widening of Mississauga Road

July 31, 2013   ·   0 Comments

After an in-depth environmental assessment study, Peel Region staff has suggested a widening to Mississauga Road, just south of the borders of Caledon.
The study not only measured the impact the construction would have on the surrounding environment, but also how to address several issues found with the road, including vehicle capacity and storm drainage.
The main improvements proposed to the road are an extension of the number of lanes from two to six between Bovaird Drive West and Sandalwood Parkway. This will go down to four lanes from Sandalwood to Mayfield.
In addition, there are calls for a rail overpass running from Mississauga road to connect the roadway with parallel communities, and a 42-meter bridge will be erected over Huttonville Creek nearby.
The overhaul in the area will also include improvements to intersections, transit facilities, and the installation of sidewalks and trails.
Caledon council recently received notification of the completion of the study without comment.
