The Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board is hosting a board-wide multi-media contest for students to recognize and celebrate the 200th anniversary of the birth of Sir John A. Macdonald.
This challenge invites students from Grades 4 to 12 to produce a reflective piece showcasing their knowledge and understanding of the life and times of Canada’s first Prime Minister.
Students can submit entries in various formats, including speeches, essays, spoken word and videos.
Winners will be recognized and present their entries at the May 26 Board meeting.
Finalists in the video category will have their entries posted on the board’s YouTube channel.
“It is important that we, as Canadians, not only be aware of, but understand the context of our history,” said Director of Education John Kostoff. “I look forward to May 26 in seeing how our students tackle this interesting project.”
In addition to the multi-media contest, board communication staff designed a poster highlighting Sir John A. Macdonald, as part of its ongoing Celebrating our Canadian History poster series. Plaqued copies of this poster will be distributed to each Dufferin-Peel school.
