A 23-year-old Caledon man is facing charges after a June 14 traffic incident north of Alton.
Caledon OPP reports a cyclist was hit on Porterfield Road, south of County Road 109 shortly before 3 p.m. Witness tried to keep the suspect vehicle from leaving the scene, but were unsuccessful. Orangeville Police, however, were able to find it and detain the driver until Caledon police could get there.
Police determined the cyclist was walking his bike northbound on Porterfield when the driver of a northbound blue Chrysler Sebring, for some unknown reason, drifted across the fog line and struck the cyclist in the left elbow. The vehicle then drifted back in to the lane and continued northbound without stopping.
The victim suffered a minor injury.
The driver of the car was charged with failing to stop at the scene of an accident and careless driving.
