Mayfield Secondary School
Kevin Paschalis
This 15-year-old plays centre for the school’s varsity hockey team, which has compiled a record of 5-1-3 so far. He said he’s contributed seven goals to the cause. He’s also looking forward to playing long pole on the school’s outdoor lacrosse team in the spring. Away from school, he plays AAA hockey for the Mississauga Senators. The Grade 10 student lives in Caledon village.
Robert F. Hall Catholic Secondary School
Quinton McQuaig
This Grade 9 student is a basketball player who’s been making his mark lately with the junior boys’ squad, playing as a point guard. He said he’s been playing about six years, sort of following a family tradition. In the community, he plays rep basketball in the Caledon Cougars’ organization. The 14-year-old lives in Orangeville.
St. Michael Catholic Secondary School
Jenna Filice
This 16-year-old plays middle for the senior girls’ volleyball team, which has started the current season with a 2-2 record. She also played defence on the varsity field hockey team, which made it to the quarter-finals, and she plays intermural soccer. She’s thinking of playing badminton and going out for the soccer team in the spring. In the community, she’s a rep player in the Caledon Soccer Club. The Grade 11 student lives in Bolton.
Humberview Secondary School
Kennedy Nikas
This Grade 12 student is a ping pong player; a member of the team that made it to the playoffs. She said she’s been playing two years. She’s also been active coaching cheerleading, having been a member of Xtreme Outlaws in Newmarket for about nine years, going to a number of cheerleading competitions. The 17-year-old lives in Bolton.
