Mayfield Secondary School
Maya Ventresca
The Grade 10 student plays power and right side on the junior girls volleyball team, which is off to an undefeated start to the season. She also played outdoor lacrosse at school last year and is thinking of going out for it again this year. Away from school, she plays at the Lakeside Volleyball Club in Oakville. The 15-year-old lives in Brampton.
Robert F. Hall Catholic Secondary School
Jonathan Neil
The 15-year-old is a guard on the junior boys’ basketball team. He said they’re having a tough season, but the team is playing well. He’s also captain of the school’s outdoor soccer team, on which he plays midfield. In the community, he plays soccer for Sigma FC out of Mississauga, as well as the Jamaican Youth National Team out of Jamaica. The Grade 10 student lives in Caledon East.
St. Michael Catholic Secondary School
Madison O’Donnell
The Grade 10 student plays power on the junior volleyball team, although she said her main sport is soccer. She plays centre back on the school team. In the community, she plays for Glen Shields Soccer Club in Concord, which is in a development league, and she’s hoping to get a soccer scholarship. The 16-year-old lives in Bolton.
Humberview Secondary School
Karson Proulx
The 16-year-old is active in nordic skiing, having taken part in two meets, finishing fifth in one. He was also active in cross-country running in the fall and competed at ROPSSAA. He’s planning to go out for track in the spring, specializing in the 800 and 1,500 metre events. In the community, he plays rep hockey in the Caledon Hawks organization. The Grade 11 student lives in Bolton.
