The Friends of Caledon Public Library has two upcoming donation drop-off and sorting events.

You can drop off books to donate or help the Friends and sort the incoming books to your heart’s content.

The Friends is a non-profit volunteer organization that supports and enhances library services in the community.

They coordinate book sales, support writing contests and help the library purchase materials.

After recently celebrating their 30th anniversary, the Friends have raised almost $300,000 for the Caledon Public Library (CPL).

President of the Friends of CPL Victoria Edwards shared that one hundred percent of the money they raise goes directly to the library.

“We keep it in the community. We fundraise in our community for the community and our library,” shared Edwards.

Volunteers with the Friends are called “Friends at Large” and that’s how Edwards initially got involved.

She shared that as they work as a non-profit, they heavily rely on volunteers.

Those looking to become a Friend at Large can reach out to the Friends at CPL through the CPL website.

Edwards welcomes those wanting to help and sort at their upcoming events.

“We encourage people who want to come help, and it’s so much fun, especially if you’re like me,” added Edwards. “You just love seeing what other people read, connecting with other people about what they read, and talking about books as we’re sorting.”

For those looking to sort through books or donate and declutter the upcoming Donation Drop-off & Sortings are on June 25, 6:30-8:30 pm and July 9, 11:30 am – 1:30 pm.

The event is held in the basement of the Bolton United Church.

All donations must adhere to Caledon Public Library’s donations criteria, which can be found at: caledon.library.on.ca/about-your-library/donations-and-support.

Friends are set to host book sales Monday, July 21 to Wednesday, July 23 at Albion Bolton Branch from 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. each day.
