Dates set for advance polls in election

August 6, 2014   ·   0 Comments

The advance voting dates in the 2014 municipal election in Caledon have been set for Oct. 11, 18, 23 and 24.
Caledon council recently approved the dates on the recommendation of Town staff.
These dates introduce more flexible opportunities for eligible voters to choose their representatives. Staff reported the Saturday before Thanksgiving weekend (Oct. 11) was specifically chosen with university and college students in mind, giving them the chance to vote when they return home for the long weekend.
The first two Saturdays (Oct. 11 and 18) will provide electors the chance to cast their vote between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. The Thursday and Friday of the week preceding Voting Day (Oct. 23 and 24) allow noon to 8 p.m. for advance voting. The locations for these voting days will be posted to the Town of Caledon’s website when they are finalized by Town staff.
Advance voting opportunities and reduced hours are now available for retirement homes and institutions, as well. These hours are strictly for residents of these locations who would like to vote without having to leave their facilities. For those in Oliver House, the hours are 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.; The Davis Centre, 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m.; and King Nursing Home, 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.
