Credit Valley Conservation (CVC) invites residents of the East Credit neighbourhood of Caledon to a tree planting and barbecue this Saturday (June 1) from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
It will be at Ken Whillans Resource Management Area, 16026 Hurontario St., Caledon.
This family-friendly event is open to everyone. No planting experience is needed, as CVC staff will provide demonstrations. Students are encouraged to participate and earn their community volunteer hours.
Participants will plant native trees and shrubs to increase forest cover. Trees beautify the landscape, improve air quality and provide habitat for local wildlife.
“This is an opportunity for individuals and families to get outside, connect with nature and do their part for their local environment,” said CVC Director of Restoration and Stewardship Mike Puddister. “It’s a great way for families and individuals to enjoy the outdoors.”
Participants should dress for the weather, and wear long pants and safety boots if possible. Shovels and gloves will be provided but extras would be helpful.
The free barbecue for participants will take place after planting.
Those interested are asked to register by calling 1-800-668-5557, ext. 221 or at www.creditvalleyca.ca/events
