In the interest of public safety, conservation areas managed by Credit Valley Conservation (CVC) remain closed until further notice.
Only Island Lake Conservation Area in Orangeville is open. More than 100 kilometres of trails managed by CVC are also closed. This includes portions of the Bruce Trail.
There are dangerous conditions from damaged trees, broken branches and icy paths after the Dec. 22 ice storm. For safety, the public should stay out of CVC conservation areas, off all trails and keep children and pets away.
Conservation areas affected by this closure include Belfountain Conservation Area; Terra Cotta Conservation Area; Upper Credit Conservation Area near Alton; Elora Cataract Trailway in Hillsburgh and Erin; Ken Whillans Resource Management Area in Caledon; Meadowvale Conservation Area in Mississauga; Rattray Marsh Conservation Area in Mississauga; and Silver Creek Conservation Area in Halton Hills.
CVC is continuing to assess damages and clean debris. Updates and further notices will be provided on the Authority’s website at www.creditvalleyca.ca and through Facebook and Twitter.
