The Albion Bolton Agricultural Society made the “difficult decision” this week to cancel the 2020 Albion and Bolton Fall Fair due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In a release to media on Tuesday (June 16), it was revealed that the event’s board of directors, having met virtually on numerous occasions over the past several weeks, came to the conclusion that cancelling the popular event was the best option to ensure the safety of the local community.
The annual fair was to be held from Sept. 25 to 27 with the theme of “Family Roots and Cowboy Boots.” The event is to be rescheduled for next year, with that very theme taking centre stage in 2021.
This was not an easy decision for the board. This marks only the second time since its formation in 1857 that the Albion Bolton Agricultural Society has cancelled the fair – the other being due to the Second World War.
The organization is continuing to work on virtual events to provide for the community to keep residents involved with the society and hope to later host smaller community events once restrictions begin to lift.
