Should open-air burning be permitted on certain lots in settlement areas?
Caledon Councillor Nick deBoer is asking Town staff to look into that.
DeBoer put forth a notice of motion at last week’s council meeting, calling on staff at the Fire and Emergency Services department to look into the feasibility of allowing open-air fires on lots that are at least half an acre in settlement areas.
The motion stated that such fires are currently not allowed in such areas, and there are a number of residents who have raised concerns over such a prohibition.
The motion is likely to be discussed at the next regular council meeting, scheduled for Jan. 27.
