A Sandhill area resident has entered the race to represent Albion and Caledon East on Caledon council.
Romeo Jack Barbosa has registered to run for the area council seat for Wards 3 and 4.
An engineer by training, Barbosa is a plant system controller for the York Catholic District School Board. This will be his first venture into the political arena, as he said he’s trying to see what he can do for the people of Caledon.
One of the issues he’s concerned about is the possibility of medicinal marijuana growing operations going in neighbourhoods. “That is something I am not very comfortable with,” he said.
He’s also concerned about utility costs and taxes, hoping to get some action from the grass roots.
“Unless you take it from the bottom up, it never gets recognition,” he commented.
Barbosa is married with one son.
“I think I’ve got a pretty good chance,” he commented.
