As Caledon grows, so does its annual Caledon Day celebration.

On June 15, thousands of people came to the Caledon East Community Complex to enjoy live music, local food and drinks, family-friendly games, a vendor market and more at Caledon Day.

Caledon Day is held each year to bring the community together and this year’s event was extra special as it was also a celebration of Caledon’s 50th anniversary.

Another special aspect of this year’s event is that it was headlined by multi-platinum album-selling and six-time Juno Award-winning group The Sam Roberts Band. Caledon Day is known for its concerts and is a great way for residents to enjoy live music for free.

Caledon Mayor Annette Groves said Caledon Day was a great time and thanked everyone for attending. Groves and members of Caledon Council attended the event, and all were thankful to the efforts of Town staff and volunteers who made the event a success.

Ward 2 Councillor Dave Sheen said he’d been looking forward to Caledon Day since it was announced earlier this year.

“We couldn’t have asked for better weather today, it’s not too humid, it’s just really nice,” he said. “It’s going to be a great day and I have a feeling this place is going to be packed.”

The event was indeed very well attended, and Sheen estimated 10,000 people came to Caledon Day.

Almost every Caledon community group you can think of was involved in the event’s vendor market, and there were many local businesses and vendors represented too. There was a touch-a-truck station, bouncy castle obstacle course, giant Jenga, bean bag toss and more for kids.

Two rows of food trucks and vendors provided residents with ample choices for delicious eats, and five local establishments provided alcoholic beverages as part of Cheers Caledon.

To cool off, there was a rest station and multiple water stations where residents could fill up their reusable water bottles.

The Sam Roberts Band concert and fireworks show ended the 2024 Caledon Day celebration, which ran from 2 to 10 p.m., in style.
