Central West LHIN welcomes new board chair

Following his general appointment to the Board of Directors April 12, the Central West Local Health Integration Network (LHIN) has announced that Carmine Domanico has been appointed by Lieutenant Governor Order-in-Council as the incoming Chair of the Board, effective today (June 8).
A resident of Brampton, Domanico is currently Head of Human Resources — Canada for PolyOne Corporation, based in Orangeville, and formerly President and Chief Executive Officer of Cristal International and Executive Vice-President of Atticus Management in Toronto. In addition, prior roles include Vice-President of Human Resources for CIBC Retail Banking, and a number of senior human resource global roles at Nortel Networks.
Domanico brings to the position of Chair an extensive governance background that includes his current role as a member of the Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD) GTA West Advisory Board, and former role as Board Chair of the Central West Community Care Access Centre (CCAC). He has also held governance roles as Vice-Chair Policy and Director of the Brampton Board of Trade, President of the Toronto Human Resources Professionals Association, President of Mohawk College Alumni Association, Vice Chair of Mohawk College Foundation, and editorial team member of Benefits Canada and Health Policy Forum.
He holds his Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from and has completed the Directors Education Program at the University of Toronto Rotman School Of Management. He has received the Institute of Corporate Directors Designation (ICD.D), and completed the Electronics Engineering Technology Program at Mohawk College.

Members of the LHIN Board of Directors are responsible for directing the LHIN’s affairs and providing oversight in accordance with applicable legislation, approved strategic and business plans, accountability agreements with the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care and its directions and policies. They are appointed based on their expertise, experience, leadership skills and the needs of the LHIN, and are accountable through the Chair, to the Minister of Health and Long-Term Care for the use of public finds and for its results in improving the local health system.
