CCS joins calls for youth to ‘Make Your Pitch’

The Ministry of Economic Development, Trade and Employment (MEDTE) in partnership with Small Business Enterprise Centres (SBEC) throughout Ontario, including Caledon Community Services’ (CCS) Caledon SBEC, has announced a new youth entrepreneurship program called Make Your Pitch.
The initiative gives high school students an opportunity to create a two-minute video which “pitches” their imaginary business. Students have a chance of winning business coaching and mentoring, as well as up to $3,000 to start their own business.
Local educators and community youth leaders are ecstatic about the idea and want to see students put on their thinking caps, hop in their directors’ chairs and “pitch” their business idea for their chance at the spotlight.
Video submissions can be uploaded to www.makeyourpitch.ca until May 3. Public voting will occur from May 4 to 16. Judges will also be weighing in on the submissions as semifinalists present their business ideas at the Ontario Centres of Excellence (OCE) Discovery conference running May 27 and 28 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.
The Caledon SBEC supports the formation and growth of small businesses across all sectors with a wide offering of services including free consultations, business plan reviews, seminars and more.
