CCAC looking for Heroes in the Home

September 25, 2013   ·   0 Comments

Last year, Edward Priebe was nominated and recognized as a local Hero in the Home.
As a Sobey’s employee, Priebe coordinated a bus pickup program with seniors in his community. He would drive them to the store on a weekly basis and assist them with their shopping needs, even recruiting his granddaughter to assist him during her holidays and school vacations.
The Central West Community Care Access Centre (CCAC) is looking for local heroes like Priebe.
CCAC is holding its second annual Heroes in the Home recognition awards, having recognized 118 local caregivers last fall. The program encourages nominations of formal and informal caregivers within the community who assist others in maintaining their health, safety and independence at home. Any form of caregiver can be nominated — a family member, friend, care coordinator, nurse, therapist or other health care worker.
Nominations close Sept. 30. CCAC is encouraging residents to nominate their local heroes. All nominees will receive a certificate of recognition and will be honoured at an awards ceremony in the fall. To nominate, visit www.heroesinthehomecwccac.com or call 1-888-733-1177, ext. 7756.
