Canoe the Credit will raise funds for Conservation Youth Corps

June 20, 2014   ·   0 Comments

Join Credit Valley Conservation Foundation (CVCF) for the seventh annual Canoe the Credit event at the Don Rowing Club in Port Credit this Sunday (June 22).
The event takes place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with speeches beginning at 12:30 p.m.
Canoe the Credit brings together supporters and advocates of the Credit River watershed community for a day of paddling, food, fun, friendship and philanthropy.
A barbecue lunch will follow the presentations.
“Participating in the Canoe the Credit event allows the corporate community to show their support for CVCF and is an exciting way to raise money for conservation programs,” said CVCF Executive Director Terri LeRoux.
Over the past six years, Canoe the Credit has raised more than $140,000 in support of Conservation Youth Corps (CYC), a Credit Valley Conservation program which provides local youth with opportunities to earn volunteer hours by participating in environmental activities such as tree planting, river cleanups, fish and aquatic monitoring and wildlife habitat construction.
Come out to cheer on paddlers from the Peel Regional Police, Caledon Fire and Emergency Services, Holcim Inc. and Enersource who are participating in the corporate team challenge. Teams will paddle off in a 10-team double elimination relay race in canoes to win the coveted “Canoe the Credit” cup.
