Canadians must oppose Bill C-51

I oppose Bill C-51 for numerous reasons.
The primary one is that it violates our fundamental right to privacy and freedom.
If this bill passes, our private information would be shared with no fewer than 17 government agencies and even with foreign governments. That private information includes everything from our financial status, sexual orientation, religious and political beliefs, even our medical history.
People would not be informed of this sharing of information, thus Bill C-51 gives the government permission to spy on anyone, at anytime.
Seventy-one per cent of Canadians do not want to trade their privacy rights to give “secret police” agencies more power. More than 110,000 people have already spoken out in petitions and marches across Canada. Before Canadians knew what was in Bill C-51, 17 per cent opposed it. Now the more Canadians learn about what’s in this bill, their opinion is changing to oppose it so quickly it makes me wonder what was Harper thinking.
He even admitted to the ineffectiveness of dragnet surveillance. The government has admitted Bill C-51 is fundamentally flawed.
Please add your voice to its withdrawal from the legislation. The bill is dangerous because it opens the door for violations of our Charter Rights, including censorship of free expression in demonstrations and online. Canadians have had to raise their voice against FIPA and the TTP, now for Bill C-51. Why is the federal government hell bent on impeding on our rights and freedom? When will this stop?
