Caledon OPP will consult community this month

January 10, 2014   ·   0 Comments

In preparation for their 2014 Business Plan, Interim Caledon OPP Inspector Dom Beckett has announced that detachment staff will be hosting Community Consultation Meetings in the first part of 2014.
Regular police dialogue with the community is seen as a proven way to build relationships of trust, reduce fear of crime, and mobilize community members to address concerns about safety and security.
The meetings are set for Jan. 14 at 7 p.m. at the detachment office at 15924 Innis Lake Rd., near Caledon East; Jan. 16 at 7 p.m. at the Caledon village branch of Caledon Public Library; Jan. 21 at 7 p.m. at Albion-Bolton Community Centre; and Jan. 28 at 7 p.m. at Southfields Village Public School at 110 Learmont Ave.
The purpose of the consultations is to identify community-based concerns, seek common solutions, identify who has a role in the solution, implement a plan to address the concern and provide a mechanism for feedback on how well the plan works.
One of the major objectives of community policing efforts is to establish an active partnership between the police and the community that can analyze problems and help implement solutions and services that are truly community-based.
