A local non-profit has an important update about one of its services.
On March 31, Caledon Community Services’ (CCS) Community Transportation Pilot program will be coming to a close.
The program, which was funded by the Ministry of Transportation (MTO), was launched in 2015 to provide residents ages eight to 59 the opportunity to connect with community services and cross-municipal-border transit lines when few other options were available.
CCS’ accessible transportation services, which offer rides for seniors and individuals with disabilities, will continue to operate uninterrupted with no changes.
CCS is encouraging residents who used the community transportation pilot program to check out the Town of Caledon’s website to see alternative options.
CCS CEO Geraldine Aguiar reflected on the end of the pilot program.
“We are excited by the growing options for transportation available in the Town of Caledon that complement our long-held expertise in delivering accessible transportation for seniors 60 years of age and older, and individuals with disabilities 16 years of age and older,” said Aguiar. “The loss of funding for this pilot will bring us back to our roots at a time when the need for accessible transportation continues to grow and we are closely approaching pre-pandemic levels of demand.”
Those eligible for CCS’ accessible transportation services can learn more and book a ride online at ccs4u.org.
