The Town of Caledon is bringing back a unique light show to celebrate Diwali, the Festival of Lights.
On September 18, the Town announced it would once again host its Diwali Drone Show, holding it at 7:30 p.m. on November 2.
The inclement weather date for the show is November 3 at the same time.
The show will be held in the parking lot of the Southfields Community Centre.
Last year, the show won the Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility award from Parks and Recreation Ontario. Over 2,500 people attended the show in 2023.
“The drone show embodies the spirit of inclusion, education, and community engagement,” said the Town in a statement. “It is also a great example of innovation and responding to the needs of our community while adhering to our fireworks bylaw regulations.”
This year’s drone show will feature over 200 drones that will fly in formation to create symbols that embody the essence of Diwali.
Caledon’s Commissioner of Community and Human Services Catherine McLean said the Town is excited to be bringing back the show.
“Our Diwali Drone Show is an environmentally-friendly and safe alternative to fireworks, and we are thrilled to turn this award-winning event into an annual attraction,” said McLean. “Events like this are a vital part of our commitment to elevating the livability and vitality of our community, and we’re excited for another fantastic show this fall.”
The Town is seeking sponsors for the show, and interested parties can contact events@caledon.ca.
