On Harvest Moon Drive, one house stands out from the rest.
Rino Ferrante, along with his sons Matteo and Luca, has transformed his home at 58 Harvest Moon Drive in Bolton into a haunted house.
What’s more is Rino and his family are using their haunted house to promote a good cause.
Visitors to their haunted house are encouraged to bring a donation for The Exchange, Caledon Community Services’ (CCS) food bank and home for social support. Donations of food and money are welcome.
For years now, the Ferrantes have used inflatable, animatronic and traditional Halloween decorations to make their home into a spooky spectacle.
Rino said last year, nearly 1,000 kids came by to trick-or-treat and pass through his haunted house. In 2022, over $700 and 450 pounds of food were donated to The Exchange.
The Ferrantes said they wanted to support The Exchange because they heard about increased demand for food support during the pandemic. They said food prices are higher than ever and it is important to support neighbours in need.
Rino has been creating his haunted house for over 12 years now and it has been growing each year.
“I always love Halloween, it’s for the kids,” said Rino.
Mariia Kupriianova, Chief Development Officer for CCS, said she’s beyond grateful for the Ferrante’s community spirit.
“Gratitude is the sweetest treat of all,” said Kupriianova. “A heartfelt thank you to the Ferrante family, our amazing community ‘ChangeMakers’, for their spooktacular Halloween food drive, bringing smiles and helping our neighbours in need – year after year.”
