The Headwaters Health Care Foundation has received a boost from a local charitable group.
At its first meeting of the year, 100 Women Who Care Caledon chose to donate $5,500 to the Headwaters Health Care Foundation.
The foundation is going to put the money towards the purchase of a colposcope, which is used to detect precancerous lesions in the cervix and can be used to rule out cervical cancer or give health care providers the information they need for early detection and treatment.
100 Women Who Care Caledon is a group that raises money for charities by having each of its members donate $100 to a charity at their meetings. Group members nominate local charities, and three charities are chosen at random for each meeting. The charities then present to the group and the group votes on which charity it would like to support that month.
100 Women Who Care Caledon is always welcoming new members, and more information about the group can be found at 100womenwhocarecaledon.com.
The Headwaters Health Care Foundation raises money to support the Headwaters Health Care Centre in Orangeville and make a difference in the lives of patients there.
In a media release, 100 Women Who Care Caledon member Karen McDonald said the group is looking forward to a new year of supporting local charities through group donations.
“The group has raised over $160,000 for the Caledon community since their inception in 2017,” said McDonald. “They continue to be committed to community service and bringing together women who care about the Caledon community, its people and causes.”
The next meeting of 100 Women Who Care Caledon is taking place on May 30 at the Caledon Seniors Centre in Bolton.
