Peel Region’s retiring Chair Emil Kolb came in for words of praise this week in the House of Commons in Ottawa.
Dufferin-Caledon MP David Tilson rose in the House Monday to congratulate Kolb on his coming retirement and to thank him for his decades of service to the residents of Peel.
Tilson noted that Kolb has spent seven terms as Regional Chair and has also been chair of the Peel Regional Police Services Board since 1996.
“Chair Kolb’s dedication to public service extends to more than five decades, when he was an Albion Township councillor in the early 1970s and became a Regional councillor with the Peel Regional government in 1973,” Tilson said, adding Kolb was mayor of Caledon from 1985 to 1991.
“Chair Kolb has supported a variety of Peel children’s charities by raising more than $1.5 million through events such as the Emil Kolb Hootenanny,” Tilson added. “Today, we celebrate the remarkable life of an outstanding public servant and wish him all the very best as he begins this new chapter.”
