On Nov. 2, Motionball for Special Olympics announced its official 2026 #NoGoodWay campaign.
The campaign launched on Nov. 4 with the mission to eliminate the casual and negative use of the R-word from conversations.
This is the 12th year of #NoGoodWay.
Nov. 18 is #NoGoodWay Day, and this year’s theme will be “Operation Integration” with the goal of getting Canadians to help and become agents of change through choosing inclusion in everyday conversations.
Paul Etherington is the co-founder of motionball and wants Canadians to join the campaign and use their voice to help stop the R-Word from being used.
“In our 12th year of #NoGoodWay, we’re calling on everyday people to be superheroes in their communities by championing positive change,” says Etherington. “Together, we as Canadians can use our voices to challenge stereotypes, spark conversations, and help create communities where everyone, especially those with intellectual disabilities, are treated with the respect, inclusion, and the dignity they deserve.”
Through this initiative, members of motionball’s community across Canada will be sharing social media posts and videos to bring awareness and inspire action for Canadians both in and outside of the motionball community to help symbolically destroy the R-Word.
Those interested in participating are asked to post a video on their social media destroying the R-word through either tearing, deleting or erasing and tagging motionball through their social media @motionball and using the hashtag #NoGoodWay to spread awareness about the initiative.
Participants are also asked to sign the #NoGoodWay pledge on motionball’s website to seal their commitment. You can find the pledge by going to motionball.com/nogoodway .
In addition to sharing through social media, a variety of significant monuments across Canada will be lit up yellow to show support for the #NoGoodWay campaign and work towards the goal of ending the use of the R-Word.
Some monuments included in the campaign are the CN Tower, Mississauga’s Clock Tower, Halifax’s Provincial House, Ottawa’s ByWard Market and Vancouver’s Science World.
