Man arrested for fraud

A man who apparently skimmed gas card information has been charged with fraud.
Caledon OPP reports officers were called to investigate a complaint March 10, and their investigation revealed that a man had skimmed gas card information and was using the stolen information to make fuel purchases. Investigators learned that the card was used extensively between March 7th to March 10th throughout Ontario and into Quebec. The total amount of fraudulently purchased fuel exceeded $26,000.
The Caledon OPP Street Crime officers continued with the investigation which resulted in an Oct. 23 arrest.
A 34-year-old man from North York was charged with three counts each of possession of a stolen credit card and fraud under $5,000.
Police are asking anyone with information about this fraud, or anyone who believes they may have been victims of a similar crime, to contact them at 905-584-2241 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
