Two Orangeville residents started off the new year in the best possible way.

Alyssia Fullington and Giovanni Altrui welcomed their son, Alessio, to the world at 5:37 a.m. on January 1 at the Headwaters Health Care Centre.

Alessio, born weighing 7 pounds and 11 ounces, was the first baby to be born in 2025 at the hospital.

Alessio’s grandmother has worked in the emergency department at Headwaters Health Care Centre for nine years and Alyssia and Giovanni said this contributed to making Alessio’s birth a memorable moment.

Alyssia and Giovanni said they were happy to choose Headwaters for the birth of their son and thanked the doctor that helped them, Dr. Umeh, for making them feel confident and at ease every step of the way.

In 2024, there were 847 babies born at the Headwaters Health Care Centre.
