Aren’t you glad you don’t work in downtown Toronto!
Many of us were probably thinking that Tuesday morning, after a transformer fire knocked out most of the subway and streetcar service in the heart of the city’s business centre, messing up the morning commute for thousands, if not more.
To the credit of those in charge at the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC), service was restored after a couple of hours, meaning things were back together in time for the afternoon commute.
There are a lot of Caledon residents who work in Toronto who were probably inconvenienced to some extent.
That leads to a question that sometimes needs to be addressed by all of us — How equipped are we to handle matters if things go wrong? Do we have a proverbial Plan B?
Too many of us have come to rely on hydro always being there, the roads always being open, the car always starting, etc. Fortunately, things works the way they’re supposed to, most of the time.
Maybe we need to think of the rest of the times.
