Caledon OPP officers were patrolling Highway 10 Saturday, Aug. 10 at 1:10 a.m., when they observed the driver of a Pontiac Sunfire travel through a red light at the King Street intersection. The officers activated their emergency equipment to intercept the vehicle. Upon speaking with the driver, the officers detected a strong odour of alcohol on his breath. A check on the driver revealed that he was disqualified from driving and was further bound by a Probation Order with a no alcohol condition.
As a result of the investigation, a 37-year-old Caledon man was arrested and charged with Over 80 milligrams of Alcohol, Drive While Disqualified and Breach of Probation. He is further charged with several Highway Traffic Act violations as a result of the vehicle stop. The Administrative Drivers’ Licence Suspension (ADLS) program was initiated and his motor vehicle was impounded for seven days.
The accused was held in custody and appeared in court the following day.
