Chamber Concert series presents pianist Imre Pátkai

Caledon Chamber Concerts presents its next performance March 21, featuring pianist Imre Pátkai.
The program will consist of works by Beethoven and Liszt.
Born in Budapest in 1973, Pátkai took his first piano lesson at the age of six. Three years later, he continued at Kispest Music School. In 1985, he was accepted to study at the Preparatory School of the Franz Liszt Music Academy (Budapest). By that time, he had performed in several cities in Hungary and abroad.
In 1989, he was invited to the United States to attend the Young Artist Piano Program at Tanglewood Music Center (Lenox, Mass.) for three summers.
Pátkai has given concerts with several Hungarian orchestras, such as BM Danube Symphony Orchestra, Savaria Symphony Orchestra and the Hungarian State Orchestra. He has been a guest artist in the concert halls of Vienna, Gottingen, Jena, Helsinki, London, New York and Boston. He regularly performs both as a soloist and a chamber-musician. His artistic activity covers a wide range of piano recitals, chamber-music evenings, orchestral concerts, choir accompaniment and continuo-playing.
Pátkai’s teaching career includes a 10-year term as assistant lecturer at the Music Department of the Eotvos Lorand University (ELTE) Faculty of Humanities, and teaching at the Teacher Training College of the Franz Liszt Music Academy as well. Currently he is pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) at the University of North Texas.
The concert will be at St. James’ Anglican Church, Caledon East at 8 p.m. Tickets are $30 for adults and $15 for students 16 years and younger and may be purchased in advance at Forster’s Book Garden, Howard the Butcher and BookLore. Tickets will also be available at the door the night of the concert.
