As a multi-service, community impact organization, Caledon Community Services (CCS) has an array of services and resources for local businesses.
The Employment and Development Division of CCS provides many services to the local business community. Connecting job seekers and entrepreneurs to the local labour market is a prime focus for the Jobs Caledon Employment Services, Caledon Small Business Enterprise Centre, LIFE for Youth and LINC Language instruction programs.
Funded by Employment Ontario, Jobs Caledon has been working closely with the Caledon business community for many years. As part of the Youth Jobs Strategy, Jobs Caledon helps facilitate the Youth Employment Fund. In 2014-2015, local Caledon businesses received more than $120,000 in salary subsidies by providing youth with on-the-job training. Additionally, non-youth placements have provided more than $40,000 in wage subsidies.
Jobs Caledon is now delivering the new Canada-Ontario Job Grant (COJG). The COJG provides direct financial support for employers — small, medium and large businesses to deliver short–term training to existing and new employees. Funding for this program is provided by the Government of Canada and details can be found on the CCS website at es.ccs4u.org
“We recognize that for Caledon employers their workforce is their most valuable asset,” Director of Employment and Development Cathy Perennec McLean observed. “CCS offers employers a variety of resources that support their business. We are focused on helping the Caledon business sector strengthen its assets and build its employee teams.”
CCS also provides other employee assistance: Counseling for employees going through challenging times; language instruction for employees facing language barriers; assistance for employees with physical disabilities requiring mobility aids to get to work; financial aid for employees meeting eligibility criteria; and free income tax preparation for eligible individuals.
Looking to engage employees in the community? CCS helps plan team-building volunteer days and use its facilities to host meetings and/or team-building activities. Employers can also take the opportunity to donate used office/business furniture as a way to be eco-friendly.
CCS supports all of Caledon and they really mean business. Use the staffing supports, assistance with business development, employee assistance, community engagement and promotional and advertising opportunities.
