Library holding vigil for violence against women

December 2, 2015   ·   0 Comments

Caledon Public Library, in partnership with Family Transition Place, will be recognizing Canada’s National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women with a candlelight vigil Dec. 6.
It will be at 11 a.m. at the Albion-Bolton branch of the library.
This day, established in 1991 by the Parliament of Canada, marks the anniversary of the murders in 1989 of 14 young women at l’École Polytechnique de Montréal.
Caledon Public Library co-hosts this annual event as a solemn ritual in memory of a tragic day; it is also an opportunity to encourage the community to consider ways to take action to eliminate all forms of violence against women and girls.
The vigil will feature guest speakers, music and light refreshments.
