The weather was perfect over the weekend for the annual Brampton Fall Fair, held at the Brampton Fairgrounds in Caledon. Crowds were perhaps a little light early Saturday, but things picked up during the day, and the Fairgrounds were packed that night for the Demolition Derby.

Crowds were attracted to Friday night’s Garden Tractor Pull. Ashley McClellan of Alton was competing in the 850 Stock class, driving a John Deere machine called Grumpy. She pulled the sled 267.71 feet.

The 4-H Dairy Cattle Show attracted lots of attention Saturday morning. Bolton area resident Curtis Ruta was named Grand Champion Showman, displaying Glenholme Irresistible Aspect, a summer yearling Jersey.

A large crowd of children and their parents were on hand to meet characters from Paw Patrol Sunday. Jennifer Fletcher of Brampton helped introduce her son Thomas, 2, to Chase.

One of the nice things about a fair is the cotton candy, and Mackayla and Aiden MacKinnon, both 5, of Southfields Village would agree.

Many groups in the community were serving food at the fair, including Cheltenham Baptist Church. Those hard at work Friday night included David Bechard, Denise Bechard, Charlotte Melnechuk, Danielle Colgan, Richard Colgan, Saphara Melnechuk and Pastor Wayne Melnechuk.

One of the highlights of Saturday afternoon at the Fair was the unveiling of this Canada 150 Barn Quilt, which will be placed on the face of the Agricultural Pavilion at the Fairgrounds. Jeremy Gecelovsky and Don Neelands helped hold the quilt for Dufferin-Caledon MPP Sylvia Jones, Mayor Allan Thompson, Region of Peel Agricultural Society Vice-President Bill Morrison, 4-H Ontario Ambassador Nicole French and Fair Board member Erin Ziegler officiated at the unveiling.

Brady Hasson of Orangeville is seen here with Miss Gana Nitecap, a black Angus that was champion female in the junior Beef Cattle Show Sunday.

The Chinguacousy Swing Band provided entertainment on the outdoor stage Saturday.

The Caledon Concert Band, under the direction of Robert Kinnear, performed Saturday afternoon at the Fair.

Just getting to meet a donkey at the Fair can generate a lot of smiles. Keven Masterman of Toronto was holding his son Wesley, 2, while Wesley’s cousin Shayne Bagnell of Brampton was getting a boost from his aunt Megan Divell so they could get a good look at the donkey.

The River Road Cloggers were back, providing entertainment.
