Unlocked vehicles entered in Strawberry Fields

May 29, 2013   ·   0 Comments

Several residents in the Strawberry Fields subdivision awoke May 25 to discover that their vehicles had been entered during the night and numerous items had been stolen.
At this time, Caledon OPP is aware of seven incidents that appear to have occurred in the early morning hours and all incidents involved unlocked vehicles.
Some of the items stolen include several GPS units, one pair of sunglasses, prescription medication, laptop and phone chargers, just to name a few. These items are small and can be easily hidden in a jacket or bag by a thief.
Police are reminding residents to contact the OPP Communications Centre immediately at 1-888-310-1122 to report any suspicious activity, especially late at night or early in the morning. If possible, provide police with a description of what was seen, including a description of any suspect or suspects, direction of travel, vehicle information and licence number if applicable.
Police believe that prevention is the key in reducing or eliminating the chances of having valuables stolen. People should keep their vehicles locked at all times and remove all valuables from plain sight, especially wallets and purses which contain valuable personal information and documents that are difficult to replace.
