It’s amazing what can happen when a community comes together.
A newly formed group of Palgrave community members — known as Palgrave First — hosted a community wide garage sale at the Palgrave Fire Hall May 13.
Their primary goal is to raise money to enhance the Palgrave Christmas Tree Lighting, held each year in December and run by the Rotary Club of Palgrave. Palgrave First is a group of “Palgrave residents committed to the betterment of our community.”
Items were donated by everyone in the community and were stored in a trailer at the hall. Donations came from everywhere and the items for sale filled the parking lot at the hall and then some.
Traffic was steady Saturday morning (which is an understatement) and deals were being made every direction you looked.
Furniture, clothing, kitchen items, art work, toys, books — you name it, it was there!
The weather held out and the community responded and it was a great day for all. The Rotary Club was on hand with their Chuck Wagon, serving up coffee, juice and Timbits.
The volunteers of Palgrave First worked tirelessly setting up the items Friday night, hosting the sale all day Saturday and then cleaning up after the day was done. Hours of effort and sweat equity went into hosting this more than successful event for Palgrave.
Thank you to all who helped out, to all who donated and — especially — to all who shopped and helped raise funds for this newly formed group.
