There is a new, experienced face taking over the reins at the Caledon Citizen and other area newspapers, as London Publishing is pleased to announce Doug Rowe as its new General Manager for the Headwaters region.
Also responsible for the Citizen’s sister papers in Orangeville and Shelburne, Rowe is experiencing something of a homecoming in what is a return to the Orangeville area — almost 16 years on from a stint with another area publication.
“It’s great to be back in the area again after almost 16 years away,” he said. “My wife and I met a lot of great people here in Orangeville that turned into lifelong friends. We have a lot of great memories of this place.”
“Orangeville is also the birthplace of our daughter, who is now off to college, so it’s really nice for us to be able to return to our roots a little bit and rediscover a community we grew to love,” he added.
Rowe brings with him a wealth of management-level experience in the newspaper industry, having last managed several publications spread throughout southwestern Ontario. In his new role with London Publishing, he is keen to build on the Citizen’s longstanding reputation as the true voice of the community.
“We have great newspapers each with fantastic, dedicated staff who work hard to deliver the best local news to their respective communities,” Rowe said. “I look forward to coming in and reconnecting those communities and building on the success of all of our great, local newspapers.”
