Rotary Club of Palgrave’s Weekly Rotary Minute

I never imagined I would be a Rotarian at 40.
When I was growing up, and until very recently, I had always assumed that Rotary was for highly successful businessmen who would meet once a week to network and exchange business contacts while also doing some good in the world. I have never been more wrong about anything.
The Rotary Club of Palgrave is filled with vibrant, young and young at heart community members and leaders who come together to exchange ideas to put into action for the betterment of our community — both locally and internationally.
It is a family. One that moves in the same direction with the same ultimate goal — service above self. To be able to help so many in our home community and international community through one organization is not only humbling, but also fills ones’ heart with all the goodness you could imagine.
In my short time here, I have filled the Humber River with fish, watched families at the Caledon Parent-Child Centre be grateful for access to their services, seen wheelchairs delivered to those in need in Mexico, learned of clean washrooms being installed in schools in Honduras, watched children’s eyes light up as Santa visits at the Palgrave Tree Lighting — and so very much more.
