Editorial — Vote!

October 15, 2015   ·   0 Comments

We are coming to the end of what has been a long federal election campaign. There are some who say it’s been too long. Who cares? It’s almost over.
This coming Monday (Oct. 19) is election day. It’s the day that we are expected to get out and decide how we want this country of ours to be governed for the next couple of years.
Like most Canadians, we don’t know how things are going to turn out after Monday. We are not prognosticators here, and we know of very few people who are willing to go out on a limb and predict who’s going to form the next government of Canada.
We do know that the right to vote is one that many, many people in this world don’t have. It’s also a right that many young men fought and died in two World Wars to make sure we have. Yet there are so many people in this country who, for reasons that defy logic, don’t bother to vote. It makes no sense.
Here in Dufferin-Caledon, we have four very worthy candidates who have stepped up to run. One of them is going to be elected, but all four deserve that you get out and vote.
If you don’t owe it to them, you certainly owe it to the people who died to get you the vote.
