A group of local teens were able to make contributions to the community last week through their participation in the annual Youth Leadership Camp, hosted by Caledon OPP. The work included pulling invasive species out of Alton Grange. OPP co-op student Kamil Nakielski was offering some tips while Katia Commisso, Erin Armstrong and Kourtney Fontaine were ready with muscle power.

Caledon OPP last week hosted the 12th edition of its Youth Leadership Camp, giving them the opportunity to work on their leadership skills while interacting with OPP officers. One of the first activities in Youth Camp was the local launch of the OPP “Operation Freeze” positive ticketing program at the Mac's store in Caledon village.

Camp participants took part in a food drive in Caledon village. Sydney Appleton, Michael Sheridan and Michael Andrews hold up some of the contributions they collected.

Graffiti is always a problem under bridges, and camp participants were working on it. Amber Timm was applying some paint under the bridge at Queen and Hickman Streets in Bolton.

Jennifer Martinez-Silva and Kiana Chung were pitching in with stream rejuvenation and removing invasive species from Alton Grange.
