Youths charged after incident near school

Last Wednesday was a busy one for Caledon OPP, as well as school officials.
Reports were received of separate incidents near Mayfield Secondary School and Humberview Secondary School.
Police report a Mayfield student contacted administration at about 1:10 p.m. to report he had received a digital photograph of a weapon. They were able to confirm no threat was made, but they added the school, as well as the nearby James Grieve Public School were both in lockdown until 3:55 p.m.
A few minutes after the incident at Mayfield started, police report a robbery took place in a park adjacent to Humberview in Bolton, and one of the two victims was assaulted, receiving minor injuries, but not requiring hospitalization. Police had a suspect and they were able to confirm that person was not a Humberview student.
Both Humberview and neighbouring James Bolton Public School were in a hold and secure state until about 4 p.m.
Police later added that while they had initially believed the two incidents were separate, it was determined they were related.
A 17-year-old male from Brampton was arrested late last Wednesday night, and was charged with two counts of robbery and two counts of using an imitation firearm in the commission of an offence.
It was also announced Wednesday morning that a 15-year-old Caledon boy was charged with being an accessory to robbery.
Police are asking anyone with information about these incidents to contact them at 905-584-2241 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
