This is an opportunity for women to be aware of the needs of others in the world; be in fellowship as they focus on the meaning of Christmas, and revitalize their faith. Also, this is a chance to renew present relationships and make new ones in a calm pleasant atmosphere. The guest speaker, Commissioner Christine MacMillan, will talk about Social Justice in Advent. An inspiring and effective advocate of social justice for all, MacMillan has been a Salvation Army officer, holding appointments in five countries. She also served as the founding director of the Salvation Army International Social Justice Commission. Following retirement from the Salvation Army, MacMillan was selected by the World Evangelical Alliance to serve as their senior advisor for social justice, taking on the role of Associate Secretary General — Public Engagement. Co-author of the book When Justice is the Measure, and contributing author to the book Faith, Life and Leadership: 8 Canadian women Tell Their Stories, she brings her vast journey of experience with observation and paradigms that are both challenging and achievable. MacMillan will have her books for sale and will be available to autograph them. The registration fee for this event is $20, which includes coffee, muffins, lunch and events of the day.
