Wild boar sightings in Caledon

Two wild boars were spotted last Sunday (July 19) roaming in the area of Centreville Creek.
Caledon OPP reports they called in the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry to help in a collective search for the animals, which would weigh about 150 pounds.
Police added a further sighting was reported Saturday (July 25) in the area of Innis Lake Road and Finnerty Sideroad.
The Ministry is advising residents in the area to not approach the boars and to treat them like other wildlife. Wild boars can be unpredictable and dangerous if cornered. For the safety of the community, residents are requested to contact police if any of these animals are observed in the area.
Police are warning residents to be vigilant when out walking their pets. The wild boars have a potential to spread diseases and can also jeopardize livestock or crops.
