Weekend was fruitful time for catching speeders in Caledon

Caledon OPP officers were busy over Family Day weekend dealing with numerous cases of excessive speeding on the local roads.
Police recognize that speeding and other forms of aggressive driving are dangerous, and remain a leading cause in fatal motor vehicle collisions. As a result, five motorists travelling within Caledon during weekend lost their licences and vehicles for seven days due to stunt driving.
A 20-year-old resident of Niagara Falls was caught early Saturday morning going 137 km-h in a posted 60 zone on Highway 10 near King Street in a orange 2017 Dodge CTX Challenger. The driver was also charged with failing to surrender their licence.
Less than an hour later, at about 7:10 a.m., an officer spotted a white 1999 Infinity QX4 travelling at 120 km-h in a posted 60 zone in Caledon village near Mistywood Drive. A 53-year-old man was charged with racing a motor vehicle.
The following morning, at about 6:50 a.m., an officer noticed a white Nissan Rogue going 118 km-h, again in a posted 60 zone on Highway 10 near Mistywood. A 44-year-old man from Shelburne is facing charges as a result.
Police stopped another excessive speeder Monday just before 2 p.m. in the same area of Highway 10 and Mistywood, driving a grey 2015 Ford Escape. A 43-year-old resident of Toronto was charged.
At about 3:20 p.m. Monday, police stopped a black 2017 BMW X6 which was reported to be going 134 km-h in a posted 80 zone on Highway 10, near Beechgrove Sideroad. A 21-year-old Toronto resident has been charged.
