<content-encoded><![CDATA[Caledon OPP are warning residents to be vigilant when dealing with door-to-door sales persons.
Police report a man in his early 20s called on many homes in Bolton Feb. 18, asking to check the hot water tank. He did not have proper identification, but wore a tag that read “Consumer Relations”.
Residents should know their rights. They do not have to let sales persons in their homes. Sales persons must leave a home if asked to. If they persist, and refuse to leave they are in violation to the Trespass to Property Act and residents should contact police at 1-888-310-1122 or for emergency situations dial 9-1-1.
Those who are interested in what a door-to-door salesperson has to offer should take the time to find out about their business and their offer before giving them money.]]></content-encoded>
