‘Walk ‘n Roll for Healthy Kids’ to support hospitalWere you born at Etobicoke General Hospital? Did you ever receive care there? Did you and your family walk in a Hoof-a-thon to raise funds for the hospital? If you have a connection to the hospital or are looking for a family event to help support community health care, come out Sept. 19 to a fun, new event: Walk ‘n Roll for Healthy Kids. Enjoy a leisurely five-kilometre walk, roll, stroll or run with colleagues, friends and family along the scenic Humber River in support of children's services at Etobicoke General. When you've reached the finish line, enjoy a free, healthy lunch, along with activities and entertainment for the whole family. There are great prizes and incentives — all participants are eligible. There is no registration fee. Participants are encouraged to raise funds for the hospital and everyone who raises $250 or more is eligible to win a prize. A number of teams have already registered online, as individual participants and teams taking part in the Corporate Challenge. All children registered for the event younger than 12 will receive a gift. Dr. Luigi Nalli, president of Humber Family Chiropractic, Rehab and Wellness Clinic and Silver sponsor of Walk ‘n Roll for Healthy Kids, was born at Etobicoke General, along with his siblings. His family and his patients receive care at Etobicoke General. “As a chiropractor, I know that good health starts with good habits in childhood,” Nalli said. “However, we know accidents happen and when they do, Etobicoke General is there to provide care that changes and even saves lives. That's why we're happy to support this inaugural Walk ‘n Roll event. It promotes health for the entire family and has a lasting benefit on the community.” Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. Sept. 19 at Etobicoke General and the walk gets started at 11 a.m. All funds raised, including sponsorships, will be matched, dollar-for-dollar, by Orlando Corporation's $15M Matching Challenge and will help build and equip the new wing at Etobicoke General, and fund children's services initiatives.
