Volunteer MBC - Caledon Centre is still there and operating

Residents looking for volunteer opportunities in Caledon are reminded that they can connect with the Volunteer MBC - Caledon Centre.
For the last year, the volunteer centre has been providing its services to the community through a partnership with the Caledon Public Library, and is available at the Albion-Bolton branch the first and third Fridays of each month, from 1 to 5 p.m. in the upper lounge area.
“We are very grateful for the continued support of Caledon Public Library in providing us with a space to meet with residents in the community to help them find a meaningful volunteer opportunity,” Volunteer MBC Executive Director Carine Strong said. “Serving a rural community is often challenging, but the libraries offer an excellent space for residents of all ages to gather and our team at Volunteer MBC is very pleased to continue to offer our volunteer matching/referral services on-site.”
Starting in October, the volunteer centre's operating day has changed from Thursday to Friday in order to offer their services at a more convenient time when visitors are at the library. Individuals of all ages, including youth and seniors, and those seeking to provide their skills and expertise as volunteers are invited to visit the centre. Anisha Mohil, who was previously a summer student with Volunteer MBC, has been hired to provide consultation and can assist individuals with finding volunteer opportunities and will show them how to access the centre's on-line database. She will also reach out to the local high schools to increase youth volunteer engagement.
“Caledon Public Library (CPL) is honoured to continue to provide space for Volunteer MBC's Caledon Centre,” said Library Manager of Communications and Programming Mary Maw. “CPL recognizes that many of the organizations in our community rely heavily on volunteers to maintain their day-to-day operations and we are proud of these essential outreach services that support volunteerism in Caledon.”
The mission of Volunteer MBC is to promote and support volunteerism in an effort to connect all people to meaningful volunteer opportunities. In striving to achieve this, the volunteer centre is looking for Caledon's support in spreading the word and in letting the community know that the agency is there to be of service.
“Embrace us Caledon we are here to stay!” Strong said.
The Volunteer MBC - Caledon Centre also extends an invitation to community service organizations who serve Caledon to consider membership in the centre. Members are provided with the opportunity to post their volunteer needs in an on-line volunteer opportunity database, which is available 24/7, and is provided with profile opportunities through various marketing and promotional approaches.
Volunteer MBC is a volunteer centre serving Caledon, as well as the Cities of Mississauga and Brampton. The centre offers a referral and matching service for volunteer placement within the community for all ages. It also provides education and support for volunteers and community service agencies and organizations, and serves the corporate community with various programs that engage individual and team volunteering. Additionally, the centre strives to be a strong voice to support and promote volunteerism.
