Vigil for elimination of violence against women to be heldNational Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women is coming. This day, established in 1991 by the Parliament of Canada, marks the anniversary of the murders 25 years ago of 14 young women at l'École Polytechnique de Montréal. They died because they were women. It is also a day on which communities can consider concrete actions to eliminate all forms of violence against women and girls. The Caledon Vigil will be Dec. 4, from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Albion-Bolton branch of the Town of Caledon Public Library. The Orangeville Vigil will be Dec. 5, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Family Transition Place, 20 Bredin Pkwy. This ceremony will be outside, so dress warm. |
