Vax Van launched by Region

On Thursday, September 16, Peel Region will officially launch the Vax Van – a mobile vaccination clinic, at Westwood Square mall, Mississauga.

The Vax Van will travel throughout Peel offering residents the vaccine in their neighbourhoods.

“Having passed the initial milestone of fully vaccinating 75 percent of our eligible population, we have now entered the last mile of our vaccination journey,” said the Region. “The Vax Van is an important addition to our outreach efforts that aim to protect as many people in our community as possible through vaccination.

“This strategy involves using data and community insights to understand the needs of our residents who have not yet been vaccinated and providing easy, supportive access to vaccination. In addition to the Vax Van, numerous neighborhood clinics will run in September, October and beyond in post-secondary schools, shopping malls, places of worship, fairs, parks and more. Vaccination hubs at over 15 schools in Peel also launched this week.”

These clinics will be supported by strong partnerships with community organizations who have close ties to neighbourhoods and communities to build trust and remove barriers to vaccination.

“We have also partnered with the province to bring their GO-VAXX bus to various locations in Peel, further increasing access and convenience.”

The Vax Van will be at Westwood Square Mall September 16 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday September 17 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. It will continue to move throughout the community in the coming months.
