For many years, the UDDER Tournament has been a supporter of Bethell Hospice, and this year was no different, with their recent donation of $57,350.57 from this year's event.

The UDDER Tournament is an annual, charitable women's hockey tournament here in Caledon.

This year's tourney marks the 11th anniversary of its inception.

The tournament was created to recognize a community member and a Caledon Women's Hockey League founding member, Donna DeBoer, who lost her battle with brain cancer in 2011.

The weekend-long tournament featured 30 teams, raffles, a silent auction, and their annual scholarship, which is awarded to one local female athlete.

All proceeds from this year's tournament went directly to Bethell Hospice, with which the tournament has been involved since 2014.

Over time, they have donated a total of $154,000, with this year's donation bringing that total to more than $200,000.

Lyn Malcher, Communications for the Tournament, notes that this is an increase from last year's donation amount.

“It's awesome, Bethell is a great place that we love to support,” says Malcher.

At a cheque presentation held on November 23, Bethell Hospice Foundation Board members thanked the tournament organizers for their continued support of the hospice.

“We are so appreciative of you, and grateful that you have chosen Bethell as the recipients of this amazing tournament,” shared Bonnie Klaassen, Co-Chair of the Bethell Hospice Foundation Board.
