Two wins for George’s leaves things a little tighter in IBHL standings


Things got a little tighter at the top of the standings last Thursday in the round robins of the Inglewood Ball Hockey League (IBHL).
The top two teams were kept out of the winners' circle.
July 23
AMD & Son Electric 4
Mr. Handyman 1
Paul Skates from Evan Sant and Dan Wood, Jake Lake from Wood and Jesse Lemos, Joey Lemos from Andy Sant, and Sant from Joey Lemos and Adam Biastrocci did the damages for AMD to pace them to their fourth win in the round.
Matt Scida from Mike Bozzo and Fraser Neal got Handyman on the board.
Elite Building group 7
Caledon Hills Cycling 1
Elite net nabbers were Jordan Porter, Chris Gionas, Kyle Corcoran (with two), Steven DeFrancesco (with a pair) and Ken Laramy with help from Corcoran, Jordan Francis, DeFrancesco, Aaron Campbell, Gionas, John King and Thomas McAusland.
Caledon Hills' lone lamp lighter was Dave Philips (unassisted).
We Are Creative 2
ZeeClean 1
In a nail biter that saw all markers in the second frame, We Are got the go-ahead from Dom Klosowski with John Monti netting the first.
Assists went to Alex Hammond, Mike Tarasco, Alex Schittenhelm and John West-Carvalho.
ZeeClean's sweeper was James Coulter from Colin Bromley and Kevin Paget.
George's Arena Sports 4
Carney Plumbing 0
Anthony Armata stood tall and turned away all while Sean Elliott (unassisted).
Tony Sousa from Cory Schittenhelm and Brendan Vandersterre, Schittenhelm from Shiloh Tatar and Tommy Ursa, and Elliott from Mike Garvie and Schittenhelm took care of the offence for George's.
July 25

We Are Creative 1
George's did it again with Schittenhelm from Mitch Nail and Kelvin Young, Schittenhelm from Sousa and Elliott, Vandersterre from Nail and Matt Cordina, and Schittenhelm (unassisted) providing the scoring punch for the winners.
Alex Schittenhelm was the only Creative player that could connect.
Carney Plumbing 4
ZeeClean 0
Eddy Gaffney got a much deserved shut-out for Carney, while Ryan Zimmerman bagged all four markers. Assists went to Gaffney (with a pair), Derek Carroll, Brad McGitchie and Don Crowe.
Caledon Hills Cycling 5
Mr. Handyman 2
In a big win for the Cycling crew, Albert Bettridge, Peter Christie, Kyle Dalcin (with two) and Terry Masters were the go-to guys, with Eddy Gaffney, Philips, Travis Cassar, Bettridge, Christie, Brandon Sinclair, Masters and Dalcin getting assists.
Handyman's hammers were dropped by Mike Chip and Anthony Villari with Villari, Scida and Val Melo helping out.
Elite Building Group 2
AMD & Son Electric 2
Neither team could best the other this night, with the points being spit down the middle.
AMD zappers were Biastrocci from Matt McNally, and Jesse Lemos (unassisted). Elite's elite were Campbell from King and Derek Bindon and Shaun Ridler from Michael Stenton and Francis.
The top four teams at the end of the round robins will advance to the semifinals, to be played Aug. 6. As of the end of last week, ADM was leading with nine points, closey followed by We Are Creative and George's with eight and Elite with five. Caledon Hills and ZeeClean are both still within striking distance.
The championship game will be played Aug. 8.
